About SNS JU
6G4Society is part of a cluster of European projects funded under the European Smart Networks and Services (SNS) Works Programme Phase 2 Stream Coordination and Support Action, which is aimed at dealing with societal challenges related to SNS technologies. The two CSAs from Phase 1 (SNS OPS and SNS ICE), with which 6G4Society closely collaborates, are described below.
The overall mission of the European Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) is to facilitate and develop industrial leadership in Europe in 5G and 6G networks and services. The SNS JU funds projects that shape a solid research and innovation (R&I) roadmap and deployment agenda by engaging a critical mass of European stakeholders and facilitating international cooperation on various 6G initiatives. SNS OPS
The SNS OPS project supports the SNS JU operations to facilitate the activities of the European SNS Initiative, including support for the European Partnership for SNS and the related organisation through cross-SNS projects coordination, organisation of the SNS as a coherent programme, maximised output and exploitation of SNS projects results in key domains and inter-JU coordination and joint actions.
SNS OPS also orchestrates and organises strategic activities to capture and promote the European view on 6G, the achievements of the 6G SNS and monitors the development and impact of these results on the evolution of 6G in Europe.
SNS ICE
The SNS ICE project creates a collaborative environment for European and global stakeholders involved in the preparation of 6G smart networks and services. It is the instrument to present, leverage, and position the SNS JU activities and achievements in major European and global fora. The project works at a global level with other regions, where 6G activities are planned and ongoing, creating an environment to promote SNS JU results and achievements, and exchange trends and ideas to achieve global consensus. Key standardization activities are also monitored, and main roadmaps and trends communicated back to the SNS JU projects.
The project also establishes dialogues at a European level between peer Horizon Europe Partnerships, national initiatives, research and development clusters, etc., enabling a better understanding of the European activities among the involved stakeholders and a better alignment of their plans. Furthermore, SNS ICE is engaged in dialogues with key vertical industries through well-established associations, to identify their requirements and promote the SNS JU solutions to them.
